There’s one plan, one aim for us in 2021 – more independence.
Since we’ve managed to become independent when it comes to manufacturing clothes, this year, it’s time to be that when it comes to electric power. We have already assigned a budget for solar panels and batteries that will store the generated excess power. Mid-2021, we should start creating solar energy.
Additional energy efficiency will come with solar battery storage. It will enable us to use excess energy during the overcast days.
Some of the roofs we’ll cover with solar panels in our Oraovica clothing factory.
Our quest for autonomy doesn’t end with energy. We intend to make food independently too.
Oraovica factory stands on a big lot of land and there’s plenty of room for greenhouses and even an animal farm. And since starting this year, our factory kitchen will start working, it’s ideal time to slowly start supplying it with our own produce.
Of course, to have a functioning farm, you need to solve irrigation. We already have dug water wells that can support this cause. We’ll make an extra step this year – we’ll make the wastewater from the factory safe for watering the plants.
Now, we already have a wastewater treatment plant in place and it does an excellent job at making the water safe for the environment. With another layer of filtration, we’ll be able to use that water to irrigate the plants at our farm.
And that’s what we call closing the loop.
